Milano Su Misura

October 2025

We are delighted to share that Norton & Sons Tailoring for Women was awarded second place at Milano Su Misura 2025, Arbiter’s celebrated sartorial competition held in partnership with Loro Piana.

As the sole womenswear house among the world’s top bespoke tailors, we are proud to have carried home this achievement, a win not only for Savile Row, but for women's tailoring.

Read on to discover the inspiration and craftsmanship behind our Head of Womenswear put behind our award-winning look.

The Design Brief

Founded on Savile Row as one of the great sporting tailors, Norton & Sons has always bridged the gap between hand craftsmanship, functionality, and beauty. This heritage resonates perfectly with Milano Su Misura’s 2025 Winter Elegance theme, a tribute to the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan.

Inspired by the golden age of winter sports style, our Head of Womenswear reinterpreted the glamour of 1950-1970s ski fashion through the artistry of contemporary bespoke tailoring. The result is a look that embodies effortless elegance and sporting practicality, perfectly suited to a day spent in the snow.

Entirely handmade, the complete look took over 100 hours to make, a testament to the enduring skill and dedication of our workshop at No.16 Savile Row.

The Design

The Pleated Safari Jacket

At the heart of the look is a black cashmere-blend bouclé safari jacket, defined by its inverted pleats and sculpted shoulders, it creates a nod to Dior’s iconic 1950s ‘New Look’ silhouettes with a nipped waist and flared hem. Patch pockets, turned-back cuffs, and subtle sporting references evoke the charm of vintage ski attire, reinterpreted through a modern bespoke lens.

The Jumpsuit

The jacket is paired with a jumpsuit, echoing the lines of traditional salopettes. Minimalist in form yet rich in detail, it features decorative flap pockets, button adjuster straps and a fitted bodice that flows into a softly flared trouser hem.

The Bolero Jacket

The ensemble is finished with a pure cashmere bolero jacket which has been designed with a grown-on scarf to result in a dramatic silhouette with movement. Billowing sleeves taper elegantly into a tuck at the cuff, while hidden popper fastenings secure the silhouette. The result is a contemporary expression of Norton & Sons’ tailoring artistry reimagined for womenswear.

The Competition

Now in its fifth year, Arbiter’s Trofeo Milano Su Misura is a prestigious international award celebrating the art and excellence of bespoke tailoring. The competition gathers leading tailors from across the world, each invited to design and craft an original look to be assessed by a panel of industry experts for its quality, craftsmanship, and design.

Traditionally a menswear competition, Norton & Sons was honoured to represent the first and only womenswear entry in the competition, a milestone that reflects both innovation and the evolution of Savile Row tailoring.

Hosted within the magnificent Palazzo Clerici in Milan, our Director and Head of Womenswear attended to present the final look over the course of a two-day event. The judging included an in-depth discussion on the design’s inspiration, cloth, and construction, followed by a runway presentation to demonstrate the garment’s fit and movement.

The competition concluded with an elegant black-tie awards ceremony, where Norton & Sons Tailoring for Women proudly received its second place title, presented in the form of three golden pins.

This recognition not only stands as a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship at the heart of the Norton & Sons house but also to our ongoing commitment to redefining women’s tailoring on Savile Row, blending the house’s rich heritage with a modern vision for Bespoke womenswear.

Hannah Bond, Head of Womenswear

"As the only woman to take part in what is traditionally a menswear event and to present the only womenswear garment, it was an honour to take home part of the title not just for Norton & Sons, but also for women’s tailoring.”
