Norton In New York

When Norton & Sons arrives in New York, it brings with it over two centuries of Savile Row craftsmanship. Our trunk shows offer a rare opportunity to meet our cutters in person, explore an exceptional selection of cloths, and begin the process of creating a garment entirely unique to you. Hosted in a private penthouse at 130 W 57th Street, each appointment is unhurried and discreet—an intimate setting where tradition, craftsmanship, and personal style come together.

The Bespoke Process

Consultation
Consultation

Consultation

Your journey begins with a one on one consultation with one of expert tailors. We will discuss your preferences in terms of style, fabric and fit, while taking into account the purpose of the suit, your shape, and lifestyle. Our Made to Measure process still offers a highly personalised service – we will take your measurements, carefully noting the adjustments to be made to the pattern before your cloth is ordered and your pieces made by our tailoring factory.

Fitting
Fitting

Fitting

From this our master cutter will hand-cut an individual pattern which will be refined throughout the fitting process, starting off with a basted fitting. A basted fitting is the 'outer shell' of your suit. Cut from your cloth yet minus detailing such as pockets, linings and finishes, we will conduct as many fittings as is needed to ensure the perfect fit. No detail is too small, everything is taken into account to ensure the garment will fit your perfectly, highlighting, adding and subtracting what is needed.

Finishing

Finishing

The final touches are added from buttons and buttonholes, embroidery and any finishing details, all by hand. Once your pattern has been perfected it is retained in our records for all future orders, speeding up the process for existing customers. The making of a single suit involves up to eleven craftsmen and may take between 60-80 hours. Your suit is passed through the hands of our finest coatmakers, trouser makers, finishers and pressers, all to result in a beautiful bespoke garment that is built to stand the test of time.
